Ally is accepting new clients.
English:
Hi there, I’m Ally! (She/Her) It’s great to meet you. I’m a Registered Social Worker and a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, where I’m a proud to be part of the Francophone community. I’ve been working in healthcare and mental health for over 10 years, and I’m truly passionate about helping people on their journey to emotional well-being.
My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. I’ve faced a variety of challenges, from a difficult childhood and complex family dynamics to being diagnosed with adult ADHD. These experiences, along with my own struggles with Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours like skin picking, nail-biting, and hair-pulling, have given me a profound empathy for those dealing with similar issues. I understand firsthand how different systems can impact us, and I’m here to help you navigate your own path in a way that feels authentic and supportive.
Creating a safe and inclusive space is at the heart of my practice. I want you to feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. My goal is to empower you to discover your strengths and resilience as you face life’s challenges. Whether you’re working through anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, relationship dynamics, grief and non-death loss, or other life struggles, I’m here to listen, validate, and support you.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can get to know each other and see if my therapeutic style is the right fit for you. I’m excited to support you on your journey to healing and growth.

There are many reasons that bring us to therapy. Life is complex, multifaceted, and difficult to accomplish alone, especially when shaped by the weight of childhood trauma, abuse, or overwhelming experiences. You might be feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Sometimes, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s causing you distress—it might feel vague, overwhelming, or difficult to name. In our sessions, I will help you explore these feelings with curiosity and compassion, uncover their origins, and decide how best to move forward.
Therapy is a process of guided self-exploration and skill development, where you’re not just heard—you’re understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change. It can help us emerge happier, healthier, and more resilient. The aim of my practice is to build a safe, trusting, and nurturing relationship with each person I work with.
My approach to therapy is gentle, caring, and non-judgemental. Inclusivity and belonging are central to my work; I strive to foster an environment where people of all backgrounds, abilities, and worldviews feel comfortable being themselves.
My passion and experience lie in supporting individuals navigating acute trauma, intergenerational trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic illness, and the lingering effects of childhood abuse. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, and together, we will determine the approach, guidance, and structure that is best suited for your goals. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy that engage both the brain and body to process distressing memories, foster adaptive healing, and increase one’s capacity for new adaptive learning and behaviour. Furthermore, I have specialized training and experience providing Neurodivergent-Affirming therapeutic interventions and approaches that prioritize comfort and self-regulation to help focus on healing instead of masking.
My goal is to help facilitate positive change in your life, by strengthening your sense of security within yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. To help you determine if my therapeutic style feels right for you, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I look forward to meeting you.

Life right now is tough for many of us – we are dealing with many changes in our lives, families, and communities. New challenges are impacting our daily lives and for many of us these are compounding issues that may already have been a struggle. Often those around us and the systems we deal with can make us feel judged, invalidated, hopeless and helpless. It is hard to navigate these experiences alone, especially when we do not always have the supports, resources, or coping skills that we need to manage. Therapy can help us feel not so alone and can equip us with skills to feel more confident in ourselves and our lives. It can help us put to rest things that have been bothering us from the past. Taking that first step can be intimidating, but it is worth it!
I work from a strengths-based, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed framework and believe that each of us has intrinsic value regardless of who we are. I bring warmth, empathy, compassion, and experience to the therapeutic relationship. I have been providing therapy in both private and public practice for 10+ years. I am non-judgmental and have experience in a range of issues, including stress and anxiety, depression, childhood trauma/abuse, acute trauma, intergenerational trauma, grief, coping with illness, foster care and adoption, and much more.
I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process between you and your therapist. Whether you are looking for a formal, structured therapeutic approach, or a more informal, eclectic approach, our plan for working together can be tailored to your goals and needs. Safety in therapy and in the therapeutic relationship is number one and this will always be prioritized in our sessions.
I am trained in a variety of approaches and have been fortunate enough to have received specialized training Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). If you have experiences from the past that are keeping you stuck, if distressing memories are impacting your life in the present, if you have tried talk therapies before and you are looking for a different type of evidence-based therapy, then EMDR might be worth exploring!
If you want to make sure we would be a good fit, I offer a free 15 minute consultation. Please contact me to arrange your free consultation.

My desire to work as a therapist comes from my passion and enthusiasm for connecting with others and my core belief that healing happens through our relationships with ourselves and others. Founding Elevate Therapy has been a way for me to connect with others and support them in their journey of becoming their best selves. Growth and development is an ongoing journey for all of us. Whether you’re struggling with your mental health (i.e. depression, anxiety, trauma), working on self-development, in the process of healing, or you simply need a safe place to talk, I am here for you.
While it can feel uncomfortable going to a stranger and disclosing your personal information, I work to make you feel as comfortable as possible to support you through the process of taking care of your mental well-being in a safe and supportive environment.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology along with a master’s in social work. I am actively involved in professional development and have additional training in trauma-informed practice, interpersonal violence, acceptance and commitment-based therapy, and emotionally focused couples therapy.
