Life right now is tough for many of us – we are dealing with many changes in our lives, families, and communities. New challenges are impacting our daily lives and for many of us these are compounding issues that may already have been a struggle. Often those around us and the systems we deal with can make us feel judged, invalidated, hopeless and helpless. It is hard to navigate these experiences alone, especially when we do not always have the supports, resources, or coping skills that we need to manage. Therapy can help us feel not so alone and can equip us with skills to feel more confident in ourselves and our lives. It can help us put to rest things that have been bothering us from the past. Taking that first step can be intimidating, but it is worth it!

I work from a strengths-based, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed framework and believe that each of us has intrinsic value regardless of who we are. I bring warmth, empathy, compassion, and experience to the therapeutic relationship. I have been providing therapy in both private and public practice for 10+ years. I am non-judgmental and have experience in a range of issues, including stress and anxiety, depression, childhood trauma/abuse, acute trauma, intergenerational trauma, grief, coping with illness, foster care and adoption, and much more.

I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process between you and your therapist. Whether you are looking for a formal, structured therapeutic approach, or a more informal, eclectic approach, our plan for working together can be tailored to your goals and needs. Safety in therapy and in the therapeutic relationship is number one and this will always be prioritized in our sessions.

I am trained in a variety of approaches and have been fortunate enough to have received specialized training Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). If you have experiences from the past that are keeping you stuck, if distressing memories are impacting your life in the present, if you have tried talk therapies before and you are looking for a different type of evidence-based therapy, then EMDR might be worth exploring!

If you want to make sure we would be a good fit, I offer a free 15 minute consultation. Please contact me to arrange your free consultation.

My desire to work as a therapist comes from my passion and enthusiasm for connecting with others and my core belief that healing happens through our relationships with ourselves and others. Founding Elevate Therapy has been a way for me to connect with others and support them in their journey of becoming their best selves. Growth and development is an ongoing journey for all of us. Whether you’re struggling with your mental health (i.e. depression, anxiety, trauma), working on self-development, in the process of healing, or you simply need a safe place to talk, I am here for you.

While it can feel uncomfortable going to a stranger and disclosing your personal information, I work to make you feel as comfortable as possible to support you through the process of taking care of your mental well-being in a safe and supportive environment.

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology along with a master’s in social work. I am actively involved in professional development and have additional training in trauma-informed practice, interpersonal violence, acceptance and commitment-based therapy, and emotionally focused couples therapy.

English:

Hi there, I’m Ally! (She/Her) It’s great to meet you. I’m a Registered Social Worker and am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work degree at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay where I’m also proud to be part of the Francophone community. I’ve been working in healthcare and mental health for over 10 years, and I’m truly passionate about helping people on their journey to emotional well-being.

My desire to become a therapist comes from my own journey of growth and self-discovery. I’ve encountered various challenges, from a difficult childhood to navigating complex family dynamics, and receiving a diagnosis of adult ADHD. Through my own experiences with Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours like skin picking, nail-biting, and hair-pulling, I’ve gained a deep empathy and understanding for clients facing similar challenges. These experiences have shown me firsthand how different systems can impact us, and I’m here to help you navigate your own journey in a way that feels right for you.

Creating a safe and inclusive space is important to me. I want you to feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without any judgement. My goal is to empower you to discover your strengths and resilience as you navigate life’s challenges. I believe that you are the expert in your own experiences, and my approach is centred around you. Whether you’re working through anxiety, depression, trauma, family relationships, neurodiversity, body-focused behaviours, or anything else, I’m here to listen, validate, and support you through it.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can get to know each other and see if my therapeutic style is the right fit for you. I’m excited to meet you and support you on your journey to healing and growth.

Brooke is accepting new clients.

The world can be a dark and heavy place, and that’s why I believe kindness, compassion, and hope are so important. I try to bring all of these values to my practice as a therapist, where I will strive to connect with you by cheering on your personal growth, sitting with you in the dark, and listening to your story. We will work together to help you achieve your goals and gain confidence.

I offer a listening ear, tools and advice, and a safe-place where you can lay it all out and trust that you will be treated with honour and respect. I’m a part-time therapist and part-time mental health crisis responder, so there is no problem too big or too small for you to bring to me. My focus as a therapist has been trauma, abuse, interpersonal relationships, depression, suicide intervention, and services for first responders.

I bring a lot of passion, energy, and wit to my services, and I often have a poetic one-liner up my sleeve. Whatever it is you are going through, I am here to work through it together.
